May 2022

On May 4, 2022, the Leona Tate Foundation for Change, Inc. and partner Alembic Community Development celebrated the culmination of a two-year renovation to transform the historic McDonogh 19 Elementary School into the Tate, Etienne, and Prevost Center. The center includes an interpretive exhibit centered around the New Orleans Public School Desegregation Experience, office headquarters for the Leona Tate Foundation, People's Institute for Survival and Beyond, and Beloved Community, and 25 apartments for residents 55 and older.
